Our world is composed of a myriad of interconnected parts, attempting to maintain a natural balance even with the global impact of man. Those interconnected parts are as different as living tissue and inanimate material; the soft, warm cuddliness of cashmere and the hard, cold brilliance of diamond; the sinuous, asymmetric lines of a vine or a snake and the rigid, straight symmetry of a crystal; plants such as sea kelp that can grow feet in a day and the seemingly unchanging face of a mountain. Through the use of natural materials, these contrasts – the yin and yang of the world – combine in my work to remind the wearer or user of man’s intimate connection to the source of our existence.
